Has anyone tried to order a AR-15 barrel from Brownell's. I know about the $100 limit and that barrels are regulated items, but has anyone gone through the trouble and paperwork and actually received one.

Why is it that we can get Full rifles up here along with Uppers, Lowers and Bolts but NO barrels ???

The reasons are long, but none make sense. The cost of the export license is outrageous, and contrary to popular belief, the permits are granted for each individual importer (on behalf of the seller) , not as a blanket permit for the exporter

I deal in Krieger AR barrels if that helps. Standard threaded DCM Barrels WITH 223 Match or Wylde chamber and new barrel extension 6.5, 7.7 or 9" twists.

$450 CDN

Krieger has a limited supply of these as well that I can get:

AR-15 "DCM" Service Rifle Barrels, AMU contour!

We made a batch of these barrels for the Army Marksmanship Unit and we have a few extras! These are NRA Service Rifle legal, but differ slightly from our standard DCM barrels, The 1" diameter under the handgaurds runs out closer to the gas block so they should in theory be heavier, but they only weigh about an ounce more.

These barrels are chambered, crowned, and ready to ship! Below are the spec's.

Stainless Steel
20" finish length
"Post-Ban" configuration (no muzzle threads)
11 degree target crown
1-8 twist (recomend 77 grain bullets MAX)
5.56 Match chamber
.093" gas port (our standard)
Due to the fact that these barrels are finished and ready to drop in, there are no secondary operations available with the exception of a matte bead blast finish or assembly to your upper receiver.

$450 CDN includes 223 Match chambering. (Optimized for the 77 gr. SMK) This special AMU contour is not normally available so if you want EXACTLY what the Army is using on their competitive rifles, here is your chance!

I would like to get one under $300

Fabsports shows one for 295 on their site. YHM I believe. 16.3".

I'm also looking for a 10.3" barrel

Then I think you are SOL sorry. Shorties always command a premium.

BTW I don't see the need to go shorter than 11.5. You lose enough velocity as it is. Just my opinion though.

Don't see why you can't. Call Brownells and ask them if they will export. You will have to get the Import waiver from from the Canadian government but that is pretty easy.

Brownells are very good - FYI if they don't have something in their catalogue they will special order it for you if it is from one of the manufacturers they carry.

I've had then send up special order 1911 barrells in the past.

if you can't source barrels in Canada ( preferable - we need to encourage our manufactureres) and want to go through the paperwork Brownells will export barrels from some companies( they have to be registered with State dept). I believe they also sell their own barrels. you will need to get an import permit form Foreign affairs, fill out your own typewritten order, a DSP 83, an end user certificate, & send the whole package to them, and wait around 2 months. Barrels can't be under 16" and can't be chambered in 5.56.
