AR Bolt Problem

LOL Thanks Alot Guys this thing really has me stumped I tired taking the buffer spring out and yes the BCG can go all the way back into the Buffer Tube. As soon as i put the Buffer spring back in it wont go all the back. The Buffer spring and stock are Brand new. I dont know whats up I had finally put my gun together for the first time i got my Upper from Gun Nutz bolted it all together it worked fine. The day before I took it to the range I noticed the when i pulled the Bolt back it wouldnt catch on the Bolt catch. I did strip it all apart and really cant see its hit anything. It must be something with the Buffer spring Im going to looking into the Ace Skelton stock and see what it actually calls for buts its ODD the Buffer spring came with the ACE Stock so i cant see that being the problem...

THanks Again

Is that stock supposed to use a short or long screw in the buttplate to secure the plate to the receiver extension tube? Maybe a long A2 screw is keeping the buffer from coming all the way back?

I think Urban_Ops might be on to something here.
When I changed my A2 stock to a CAA sniper stock I had to shorten the stock bolt to about half it's length.

Rem Country, this is what I meant about giving accurate answers to our questions if you want help. I asked you before if you just put the stock on and you said it worked with this stock and then started jamming up. Now you say that the stock is new?

If you still have the original A2 stock I would put it back on and see if the problem goes away. If it does work propperly then I would put your skeleton stock back on and shorten the bolt that holds the buttplate onto the end of the buffer tube so that when you just start the bolt into the threads there is about half an inch of bolt thread showing.

Hope this is the solution

Ill give it a try tonight>

CR5 I put the Stock on for the First time the Ace Skelton is the only stock that has ever been on My AR.

Thanks for your help guys.. Ill try the Shorter Bolt tonight.

If that doesn't fix it, are you retracting or inserting the bolt with a mag in or out? Bolt holdback will engage with a mag in the gun, and won't without.

Remove the bolt that holds the stock to the tube, insert spring and buffer and pull the bolt all the way back!

I'm sorry I didn't see this thread sooner, your stock bolt is too long, as suggested prior, you have a rifle bolt not a carbine bolt. If you have cut your mainspring, replace it with a new one!
