I need to replace the buffer tube on my Ar. I need to put a mill spec. Is the thread size the same? And is the buffer and spring same for both mil spec an commercial or are they different? Please help

The two receiver extension tubes have the same thread, buffer and spring.
The commercial threads just have flats instead of coming to a full point.
The difference is in the diameter of the tube body.

thank you very much for this info.
for anyone ever looking for this
body of mill spec is 1.15" and commercial is 1.17".
i wish I had his measurement before i ordered my stock...

I usually just order a milspec extension from Brownells whenever I have enough stuff to make a $100 order. Under $50 if memory serves for a Hi-Standard brand milspec extension - they are pretty nice, no complaints from me. Half the price of most Canadian sources.

Honestly, I think we get RAPED on receiver extensions here in Canada. They are not export controlled, so NO reason for the inflated price up here.

yes we do get it hard up here for prices. AR stuff is expensive anyway...
though i seen complete norc tube with buffer and spring for $65 and it looks new....what i was looking for was a used one locally in VGC or a trade just so i do not have to send my stock back. i have till tuesday.. But i guess it just makes more sense just to exchange it..
so i guess i have to wait again
