Going to buy the "final" part for my Ar15 build (the bcg) after that It will be in working order. According to the note I received with the lower's registration certificate I must call them when the rifle can be fired.
What info do they require upon notification? I would assume calibre, barrel length and OAL. Just want a heads up so I can have everything ready when I make the call.
Also due to the modular nature of the Ar15 can more than one upper be registered to an individual lower? I am toying around with the idea of doing a 6.5 with a heavier barrel.

You will need the receiver certificate number, the name of the model, serial number, length of your barrel and the caliber.

As with the multiple uppers, registered with the shortest barrel you own than you are good to go.

Call the CFO and communicate the barrel length and caliber of the finished build. They may ask a number of other questions like how many cartridges so understand this is not a trick question as much as them following an SOP. Just tell them only 5 and move on.

The new registration form may come quickly or can take months. My most recent registration certificate took 9 months to arrive once the process started.

Exactly the process mentioned already. Just did a couple recently and got the new certs in about 2-3 weeks. They do the barrel length in metric but should be able to do the conversion for you. They have to select from a drop down menu so it may not be spot on anyhow.

I have multiple uppers. What I do is transport it with the "regular" upper which shows on the registration. I'll put the other on while at the range, and return the "regular" upper back when driving home and storing.

You have 30 days to report changes, but I just think it's easier to keep the "regular" upper on unless at the range using the other uppers.
