Decided to build my first AR
This way I can purchase parts overtime.
I seem to be having issues finding parts in stock.
Curious what you guys recommend for a lower to start.
Also I know sfrc has a sale but are sold out.
Anyone aware of any good deals at the moment?

Good bang for your buck, hard to pass up the prices on Aero Precision lowers/uppers from Saskatoon Gunworks. Heck, you can even get them in different colours. :)

I built mine with an Aero lower (purchased online from Saskatoon Gunworks), it rocks, and its a great price. I actually went and visited Gunworks after I finished my AR, they've got fully built in store Aero's and my gawwwd, I wanted the one in OD Green so bad.

sorry for hijacking this thread, but i was wondering if a person with just a PAL can buy all the components to build an AR..not saying that I'm going to do it, but hypothetically is all. I still plan on getting a RPAL

you could buy everything except the lower...for that you need a restricted PAL (RPAL).

Well, you could get an 80% lower... that would get you a bit closer, but you would have to wait until the rpal came in before you put the drill to it.
thanks guys, my interest has gone up a little more in the AR department and maybe become a new member to gun cabinet.

Aero are pretty good. I'm thinking about getting aero lower for my norc upper and then slowly build upper for it while I abuse the norc. They ate reasonably priced too. But do your research and see what you would like for a build. There are different ways you can go about it

Don't forget to budget for the right tools to put one together. I strongly recommend a reaction rod for installing the barrel instead of the vice blocks. It keeps all the force out of the upper so you don't have to worry about damaging it. It's just a splined rod that slips into the barrel extension and then you hold it with a bench vise. Other than that a good armorers wrench, a set of punches and a plastic head hammer is about all you need.

I got a lot of parts for my last 2 builds off the EE, just be sure to check the retail price before you buy as some guys try to sell used stuff for the same as new or sometimes more than new price. If you're not in a hurry you can get some really great deals.

Take your time and don't force things, youtube is your friend, lots of good videos showing upper and lower assembly :)

Good luck and be sure to post pics when you're done.

This is my last build. Went with a custom made 300 Blackout barrel from Suputin :)
