AR case neck dents?

I have been reloading straight wall pistol cartridges for a while now with what I would consider to be great success (no ftf/overpressure/etc). My shooting ability is another matter.

Anyways, I am now getting ready to start reloading .223 for my AR.

My first question has to do with the rough treatment to cases get from the AR when ejected. many of the cases have a 'dent' in the case neck from ejection. My guess is that this would work the brass and shorten it's life but not be a sole reason to throw away brass. Can someone kindly confirm if I am on the right track with this?

The dent will come out when you resize it. Resizing it will work the brass a little more with dented necks, but I don't think you are look to get 10-15 reloads/case.

Don't throw it away, resizing will iron it out. The extra working of the brass will be pretty trivial, it will have little to no effect on your brass life.

With a semiauto you need to full-length resize your brass. You can substantially extend your brass life by spending a fair bit of time and effort in adjusting your FL sizing die so that it sizes your brass _enough_ (i.e. so you can 100% reliable and effortless feeding and chambering) but not _too_much_ (screwing your FL die down to touch the shell-holder will result in your brass being shrunk then stretched by five or seven thou more than it has to be, each time you fire it -- this will require you to trim your cases every two or three firings, and will also give you case head separations after 5-8 firings)
