So,

Upon reading a recent post re: drop in triggers, (it looks like I will be doing some research on a Geiselle SSAE) I started wondering about charging handles.

When charging my piston Stag, as a right handed shooter, I do find the OEM handle somewhat hard to find, and charge at times with both left and right hands. My quick research has showed a Rainier Arms Raptor to be a quality product, but this is according to the internet.

So, has anyone swapped out their charging handles, to what, and was it worth it? Does piston or gi operation make a difference as one review I read said it does?

Any help and opinions are encouraged.

Love my Raptors

What does that offer vs just getting a tactical latch and installing it on your current charging handle?
Badger Ordinance tac latch is $20 vs $85 for the Raptor.

As a right handed shooter, I have only ever racked my rifle with my left hand so the one sided latch is all I have ever needed.

Not much....I went the BCM med latch for one build, and on the other rifle just upgraded to the Badger latch version 2.
The BCM is built nice, and the med latch doesn't stick out too much. Both work just fine one handed on just the latch side, or the normal 2 finger grab, I would buy another $20 latch for my next upper. Not sold on ambi yet....I don't see much improvement, and it just adds one more ####ing thing to snag your rifle on...LOL

Well I am a lefty so this thing is a must for me but... I always shoot my guns both sides. Natural is left but I still can do everything on the weak side almost as good. Some competitions ask you to shoot weak side. As for work it can also be useful to know how to shoot and do the drills both sides.

Just saying.

I've always used the tac latches....the operation of the raptor is much smoother.

Is it $65 worth of smoothness....was for me.
