ar free float handguard barrel nut help

I bought a free float hand guard today at a gun show. got home and went to install it and realized the nut for the barrel/handguard that came with it does not have any holes in it for the gas tube to go though. it threads on to the upper no problem and the rail on the handguard and upper match perfect. so I don't get it could it be for a different gun or what?

What kind of handguard did you get? There's various designs for barrel nuts, some don't require being timed for the gas tube. Could you post a picture of it?

iam not sure what kind it is it does not say any where on it. ill try to figure out how to post a pic. I never have done it before

Just pulled my old JR carbine rail out. Looks identical.
