does anyone know who makes a AR type rifle in 7.62 X 39? i though Armalite made one but i can't find it on there web site. thanks for the help
eric

Colt used to... I had one, it was a great shooter but with the gas system that dumps all the crap back into the main action it jams up with the filthy comblock ammo.

Olympic used to make one which accepted AK mags.
DPMS and ZM Weapons also made few, but I don't know details.
Middle 90's Sako made a very limited edition for some gov contracts (with AK mags).

one of the guys on the board had an upper in that configuration a couple months ago on the exchange forum .... DPMS 20 incher

Popurhedoff, how accurate do you find your 7.62x39 upper?

I haven't fired it yet, I will be testing velocity (chronograph), cycling, feeding and accuracy them cutting 1" from the barrel and retesting... I will do this to quantify how far I can go (shorten barrel) and still operate satisfactorily before I have to enlarge the gas system.

This 7.62x39mm upper is a test bed, currently the barrel is 20.5" long and I wish to bring it down to at least 16" in barrel length and still have velocities above 2100fps. This would allow the 125gr bullet to still make major power factor for 3 gun matches while having the ergonomics of the AR. I have also re engineered a brake for the muzzle as well for testing.

I will post the results afterwards.
