I am thinking of doing some shooting at Camp Perry next year for their High Power Matches. Does anyone know where I can get a 20" 1:7 twist match barrel in Canada besides Adam Lake Barrels and ATR? Is there anyone else that sells a barrel like that?

Thanks for the help.

Might get something on the EE
Maybe in the future from NEA?
ATRS would be my pick

I am still on the sidelines of the black rifle playground (cant afford one lol) but I have shopped around a little.

I would go for ATRS, everyone has a good opinion of them, and from what i see they have amazing customer support (both pre-Purhase AND POST purchase).

Also, according to their website they can make any type of barrel you like, at any length, any profile, various chamberings, and at any of the three gas lengths. a 20" barrel will cost 550 according to their site. They will also match your bolt to the barrel for proper headspace.

A number of manufacturers barrels will do, but I'd stick to ones with well known reputations... Top of my list would be Krieger.
You could also have one built to your specs in the states and get it exported.

Yeah because $400 dollar pre chambered Kreiger and Shillen barrels are only recommended and used by chumps like the AMU. What do they know?

Feel free to produce for me a brand new, contoured, chambered, krieger barrel with extension fitted for $400......I would love to see where you could find one of those for sale in Canada at that price

How do match barrels hold up to high round counts and getting them smoking hot?

You really aren't supposed to get a match barrel smoking hot. Average use, it's not a big deal. I have an 18" Whiteoak SPR barrel on one unit, and I get slight vertical stringing when it heats up, but not very much, and easy to compensate for. Should be able to get at least a good 2-3000rds out of a match barrel in .223 if you don't abuse it, maybe more.

I guess a match barrel is not for me. I go through 500-1500 rounds per range visit in each calibre I shoot.

Depends on your definition of when a barrel needs to be replaced... a 0.5MOA barrel may wear to 1.0MOA after 15,000 rounds, while a 1.0MOA barrel will wear to 2.0MOA with the same usage...

Realistically, if you shoot more than 2-3k rounds through one gun in a year, just buy a top grade barrel, spend the extra $200-300. By the time you've actually bought enough ammo to shoot out the barrel, the actual cost of the barrel will have been >10% of the cost of the ammo.

10K plus is far more realistic.
