is it a common problem on a new ar15 for the bolt catch spring to be to stiff to let the magazine follower to push it up? should i just use it and hope it softens up or should i put a lighter spring in it?
No the bolt catch should be good to go, what make is your AR? I have a feeling that the bolt catch spring and plunger may be installed incorrectly hence the stiffness.
