Well, I would put my money on a CORE15 because I hear the same thing every time, "Never discount a CORE15 because they are as good as any other AR-15 out there for less money." I have a CORE15 upper in 300BLK and if I every buy another complete rifle, complete upper or complete lower it will be a CORE15 for sure. I am impressed that I can get 1.5MOA or better out of my CORE15 with any standard 110gr ammo and .75 MOA or better with hand loads.

Good call! Other decent options were a Colt from IRG, or the CORE. Enjoy!
DI is the way the original rifle was made, but then people decided that it was too dirty and started coming out with piston systems instead. Personally I don't think that there is any thing wrong with the original design in the AR platform. Pick up a stock gun that no one has messed with and shoot it before you get the urge to do some changes.
I was not trying to give advise hah, simply listing brands from the top of my head. Anyways I'm curious on what issues you have had with them? I'm not trying to defend them as I have never owned one of their products. But it would be nice to know so I can stay away from them. For the prices they are asking you would think they would be of higher quality.
Since the OP never mentioned an actual budget just go straight to JP. Never need another one

No one can own just one AR for long. I was up to 6 last week and just sold one. I'm sure there will be more in the future though.

Don't bother with the BAD lever, it's the worst thing Magpul has ever built. Lots of guys on the site have had problems with it.
I like the Phase 5 enhanced bolt release, looks like a BAD lever but is a one piece unit that replaces the bolt catch. I have 3 of them and all my rifles function perfectly with them.
I just want one of the carbon fiber wrapped barrels and a carbon forend. They can keep the rest of the crap.

Was it easy to swap that fore end and take the sight post off? The Colt with the magpul furniture from IRG seems like the best deal out there right now. That looks like the exact type of setup i'm looking for but i know nothing whatsoever about ARs. I received my Restricted license in the mail today.

I suggest you shoot it the way it comes from the store then change things out as you feel they are not working for you. First thing will probably be the grip. My favorite is the Magpul MOE+. Depending what you want to hang off of it I would personally avoid a quadrail as they just add unnecessary weight to the rifle, a nice free float forend with a top rail and provisions to add short rail sections at 3,6 and 9 o'clock is nice because they remain fairly light and are much more comfortable. Most decent ones are going to be $200 and up depending on brand and features. The stock in the pic (magpul STR) is fine, I have one on my PWS rifle, it's comfortable and solid.
Make sure you keep enough money in reserve for a good optic, you will need at least $400 to get something good. Your optic is very important and can make or break your set-up. Cheap optics are not as nice to look through and don't hold zero as well. I would spend the money on your optic before you spend any money trying to make it more tacticool. Make changes that will help you shoot it more accurately and more comfortably first, don't waste your money on what looks cool until later.
The front sight is easy to remove but you'll need a low profile gas block to replace it. These are around $40 and up depending on brand.
Can't go wrong with a Colt, especially for $1000.

Thanks cr5. I think I'm going to go for a low power variable scope once i get the AR and i figured that the front sight post may get in the way. Good info on the gas block. I don't really care much about tacticooling the #### out of it. Full railed fore ends do nothing for me and i love keeping my guns as light as possible. So as you say, being able to add a small section of rail to the front 3 or 9 o'clock, say for a light, is about all i'm looking to do. That's why i've been checking out the BCM keymod fore ends. They look like they'd fit the bill nicely.
I'm trying to take baby steps into the AR world because i know if i dive right in, i'll be so broke i won't even be able to afford KD.

For a low power variable on a budget have a look at the Hi-Lux CMR from Wolverine. I have one and it's a great little scope full of features you won't find on others till double the price and the glass is surprisingly crisp and clear.

For your forend have a look at the Troy Alpha and also the Samson Evolution forends. Nice and light and also affordable. I deal mostly with Tier One Armoury in Edmonton for that type of stuff since they carry lots of nice AR parts.

Just keep an eye on the EE in modern military and black parts. I've picked up a few almost new forends for really good deals.
The front sight post won't be in the way except at 1x magnification.
Throw your variable scope into a Burris PEPR for a great fit on any AR. Spend a little more to get the quick detach one if you want (I have 4 of them

nope not that very easy, since everything has to level up and that noveske rail is a biatch to level up, I took it to a gunsmith with all my pieces: compensator, noveske handguard, troy gas block.
