Forgive me for my stupidity. I don't know much about AR's at the moment except that I want one.

I do want to purchase NEA. I fully understand there will likely be a couple more growing pains but they have a good CS track record and I do prefer to purchase Canadian.

My question relates to the modularity of the AR platform and NEA specifically. By going NEA, is there any modularity that I am giving up? Is there any reason I would not be able to get aftermarket parts such as trigger group, etc and install it in NEA?

Im still new to this as well, so were both in the same pile of #### at the moment. once you dive into the diverse pool of AR information, you can be reading for hours and staying up till 2am researching stuff.

From what I understand so far, AR platforms are all similar. there are a couple things to kno when changing parts, like paying attention to thestyle of feed ramps you have when you want to change a barrel, but other than that all the parts seem to be interchangeable. just have to pay attention to detail.

How do you know you will NEED to replace the trigger group, or anything else for that matter?

I'm sure someone from NEA will be along shortly to give you all the details, but off the top of my head, you will have to use commercial spec stocks unless you replace the lower receiver extension (although I believe they may be able supply a milspec one if requested). You may also be limited to what handguards you can use, as they use a standard barrel nut, but no delta ring, handguard cap, or fixed front sight (but again they can probably fit these if requested). Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

Regards.

MWL, I have no plans to replace the trigger group. That was just one example of something that could be replaced. I think you did answer most of my question though.

If NEA could comment that would be great.

Thanks.

Try asking them over on their part of the forum:

You will probably get a quicker answer, as I imagine they monitor that a bit closer.

I was in the same boat as you and recently made my first AR purchase. It's alot to learn and take in! Though I did not buy an NEA at the end of the day, it was a hard choice and I am glad that you are supporting a local company.

I am sure the NEA is made to be as modular as any AR, but best to ask them. You can email them directly and they will reply.

Just get it and shoot it for a bit though and see how you like it. I always shoot my guns stock first, before spending money on various doodads, to see what I like and what I don't. Could be you don't want to change anything at the end of the day!

I may likely not want to change anything at all. I just don't want to lock myself out of one of the interesting features of the AR.
