Ar opinions: NEA vs Norinco

Norc was my first AR. Not a single malfunction to date & accepts aftermarket triggers and accessories without issue. mounted a decent red dot and shoots wonders.

Second AR was a Daniel Defence - Yes, the fit and finish is no comparison, but at double the price I would expect nothing less.

They both put holes in paper quite accurately. From the many article I have read about NEA, I don't think I would ever buy one of their products… sure you make get a good one, but I believe Norc has had a much better track record as far as reliability.
just my 0.02

I bought one of the first 14" NEAs. It turned out to be a bolt action straight out of the box. NEA took care of it right away and sent me a new upper. It works flawlessly now. The trigger was terrible. Creepy and gritty. I cleaned it up and changed the springs. A bit better, but I still didn't like it, so I dropped in a Timney.

It shoots 1.5" consistently with Federal bulk ammo and doesn't let me down. If I bought another AR, I might buy something a little higher-end, but I would not get rid of this one.

i don't own a complete NEA, but i do have 3 of thier lowers in custom builds. the first one is from "batch 12" and was almost a dream to build. one roll pin for the bolt catch was a bit loose, so in went an oversized pin.
the next 2 are from batch 13. (i assume these were machined out in 2013) i'm seriously wondering if i'll ever buy another NEA product because of them. they look identical to my first one, except they say "...nea. ontario canada....." now putting parts in, whole n'other story. takedown pins fit snug. good. upper fits flawlessly. also good. mil spec hardware however....not good. detent pins and springs won't fit. the rear takedown pin detent spring/pin location was moved 90 degrees, so its beside the fire select group. secured with the grip. neat idea at first. but there's no relief hole in the grip. and being a MOE+ you cant just drill a hole in it. second, ones you trim the spring, its too short to be used in anothr build should you need/choose to.
this hole was way undersized (maybe due to some of the nitrate getting in???) but it was also curved! i discovered this while i reamed out the hole. stopping halfway in when began to bind. i removed the bit and inspected the hole....that was oval??? a small piece of guitar string confirmed it. a curved hole. never saw that coming!
although not considered a "mil" part, ambi fire selector did fit in. but is a full 1mm too short to assemble and funcion.

now, i'm not sayin don't buy an NEA, complete or otherwise. just sayin proceed with caution. i generally use a cmmg kit, and the first one worked. i even stripped a few bits off two other rifles (of my own) for this build, and same. no go

My daughter's Norinco has just over 5000 rounds through it. I've never had a FTF or extraction problem. Dressed it up with Magpul goodness and she has never looked back.
Hits what she is aiming at and it always goes "bang" when you pull the trigger.

my Norinco works with any mag and all ammo... .50 beowolf, pmag, lar, steel mags etc... steel cace, brass case, hollow points.. etc -20 to +30oC woks all day long....lol

If I would do it again... I would get a Norinco in 14.5 in and a NEA in 7.5 PDW.... I got a 10.5 ....

Buy the norc and spend the extra money on ammo. You will gain more performance from practice than any "better" equipment will gain you.

For your daughter keeping it real with the flat bottom kick's rock'n the AR & M&P she gets 2 thumbs up from me ;)

Sitting here at 5 in the morning with the mother of all sinus colds, can't sleep, can't breath, but I can cheer myself up and buy another firearm. Bought CanadaAmmo's deal on the Dominion Arms DA556. Took the plunge; seems like such a good deal. Hope it gets along with my VZ58 red rifles:).
