Always want a AR in 7.62x39. Saw this one comes out. Is it OK to use surplus ammo on it? I know it's an expensive gun and I should use NC, just asking.

Today I was in warehouse and saw this thing.

Never personal handled a PDW in 7.62x39 before. Quite a piece of engineering art.

Dan told me this is the only one in stock. Just want to share a picture before it's gone.

Their warranty, by all accounts, is good. Not that I've needed it.

As for corrosive ammo, the guys shooting them will know. I ordered the Windham parts kit from IRG and I plan to shoot corrosive in mine, lube with ballistol, and just flush the upper and carrier out with boiling water when I'm done, before cleaning as usual. Ballistol will wash off with the water, if you didn't know.

Not a whole heck of a lot to corrode on a gun with a chrome bore, aluminum receiver, and stainless gas tube.

I think I'll go for the PSA complete upper through IRG (I've got a bunch of lowers). I've had the CCS stock and found it uncomfortable and cumbersome to take down (compared to a normal stock). I'm also not a fan of 6061 (and I don't want to open up that debate again) so I'll stick with 7075.

Good luck with your new shooter. deagle had that exact model , i would PM him for his thoughts on it.

That gun was .223, if you want to be picky about the meaning of "exact".
My 14.5 upper was a champ with surplus, guess I lucked out.

What does a rifle with a 14.5 inch barrel have to do with a PDW length barrel? I would say whether you "got lucky" is a matter of opinion.

Your point exactly?
We're talking about NEA's in 7.62.
I had a 14.5.

I didnt get the memo about being a PDW only thread, please post it again.

Did you happen to notice the title of the thread? "AR PDW in 7.62x39". Further , Barrel length is a big deal in AR's. Really short barrels (like in a PDW) can be problematic. Just ask deagle he had one.

Deagle's was a Gen 2 in 5.56.
This is a Gen 3 in 7.62.
Anyhooooooo.

Again, barrel length is an issue in AR pattern rifles. PDW's have short barrels, in the case of NEA 7.5 inches. running 7.62x39 in AR pattern rifles is problematic. When you combine the issues: short barrel, 7.62x39, the results can also be problematic.

I know that.
Thanks for sharing.
Seeing as its a new platform, no one has tried one yet. The closest relative is the 7.62 14.5.

Same upper and proprietary bolt.
Theres no rule that Im not allowed to post my experience with that version. There are plenty of NEA hate threads if you want to post there.

I don't have any experience with 762 in an AR but I have several short barreled ARs and they all run fine. I don't see why this one wouldn't.

Anyone that does a bit of research will find that there have been some issues, esp with the short versions.
To the OP: my 7.62 NEA did very well with surplus.

what is the BEST PROVEN option for a PDW 7.62x39 upper anyways ?
I'm interested in what the concensus is for a "buy it and go" proven 7.62x39 AR set up

CMMG Mutant Mk47 is proving to be the best design.

Rather than scale up an AR15 size rifle CMMG took an AR10 down to 7.62x39.

Takes AK mags and is a mid sized rifle.

I don't think even CMMG has a PDW version. The consensus is that a receiver that takes AK mags is pretty important for the concept to work really well though. So in theory if any gun was going to do it the CMMG has the best chance. that being said a CZ 58 style rifle in 7.62x39 at a PDW length would be my choice, If i was going that route.
