Hey guys, took my Norinco to the range today. Have had it couple of years now, never a problem. Recently took the front post sight off and installed a low profile gas block. had no problems firing today approximately 100 rounds, then it started to FTE. Same ammo all day Norinco surplus. Any ideas where to start looking for the problem? Thanks

Could be two things, the gas block not being secured or the wrong port sizes. Also check to see the ejector still has tension.

You're getting FTE but are you getting a round trying to feed while the empty brass is still in the action?

If so, check your extractor to see if it's worn or damaged or if the extractor spring needs replacing.

If you're just getting FTE with no live rounds stripping from the mag and causing a malfunction or the bolt does not lock back on empty mag, check the gas block to see if it has not become loose.

Most gas blocks have oversized gas ports to accommodate for slight misalignment during installation. If the OP was able to cycle 100 odd rounds without issues, I'm gonna guess loose gas block as opposed to incorrect port size.

If it goes bang, but the case is not ejected, chances are that your gas port is misaligned. If it goes bang and sometimes ejects the case, the gas port might be of an incompatible size and thus only sometimes allows a proper amount of gas through. Or it could be an extractor issue as Trinimon said.

Agreed,
if you replaced your fsb with a low pro gas block that is held in place with set screws I'll guess its your gas block that's shifted, especially since it happened after about 100 rounds.
I had the exact thing happen to myself.
I just took the rail off and dumped a couple mags then tightened. Repeated three or four times and didn't have a problem after that.

up grade your extractor. you can get a kit at brownells for like $10. just buy it, fix it and your good. trust me!!!
