Hi, new guy here, i'm considering buying an AR very soon and was wondering what is the opinion on the NEA rifles and daniel defence. Thanks.

Lots of opinions on this forum. Best to check out the "search" function and be sure to set the date range to something useful. The default is really lame.

NEA has had their teething problems, but I'm confident it has all been resolved now. they have fantastic after sales support and a great warranty. I wouldn't and don't hesitate to recommend them. Most posts you find here are from their early days, and I will be the first to tell you that there were issues then that have since been resolved very nicely.

I get messages from them every few months asking how things are with my AR. What other manufacturer would do that?

I have a Daniel Defense M4V5 and I absolutely love it. Fairly pricy but you get what you pay for. It's worth it and will do everything you can reasonably expect it to.
Haven't had any hands on experience with NEA, but they went through a bad spot a while ago but apparently that seems to have cleared up now.

NEA is a love hate company. They put out products for both AR's, shotguns and some M14 stuff. They had some serious quality issues with all of them. People say they have cleaned up their act, which may be true, but not before their reputation went down the toilet for many of us. I know that with all the various options in AR's available including building from parts NEA isn't even on the list for consideration, but I stress that is my personal opinion. I follow the thinking of buy the best you can afford.

Do a search on NEA with the timeline set at 36 months, then do a search on Daniel Defence with the time line set at 36 months. That way you can read all the information and make a more informed decision.

I too am also looking and found lots of god reviews for the DD and the NEA is mixed, and picking the best is usually a very difficult decision, as almost every rifle brand has good and bad reviews. Help me make a decision also.

Daniel Defense is the better choice. They are a reputable and well known manufacturer, who make reliable, high quality rifles. NEA is new to the game, and the have had multiple issues with their AR-15s. Some say they are resolved, but one thing after another seems to keep coming up. Go with the known quantity.

Doesn't NEA makes their firearms of of 6061 aluminum as to the opposed 7075 what every one else uses? Could that be what's causing the"issues" problem?

No, 6061 is fine for receiver construction. The NEA issues are related mainly to sub par parts and spotty QC.

If they can rectify these issues I'm sure I wouldn't have a problem trying an NEA rifle out. But I'm just doubtful from what ppl here say. I hear good and bad si I will be safe to stay away till the is more good reviews than bad.

Well… I would go with DD everyday all day over NEA, but it is ~50% more expensive… I don’t think it is necessarily 50% more gun… something to consider…

I agree with Mirk and I also read that the rock river and windam weaponry stuff is also great especially since all it will be used for is at a range, but then there is also that Troy stuff on here that north sylva is bringing to Canada and no one knows the price.
