AR rear sights - whats the difference?

I've noticed there are a lot of different rear sights you can put on an AR and they can be anywhere from $25- $150+. Looking at them they don't seem to be that much different. sure some fold, have nice brand names, lighter etc. but they all seem to offer the same basic idea. so is there really any functional difference between a $25 sight and a $150+ one?

Many differences. The height whilst folded, aperture size, shape, whether it has dual apertures or not, how it folds, how it is held in retention in the up or folded position, how the windage is adjusted, if there is elevation available as well, and many others.

Stay away from any UTG cheap sights... stay the f**k away.

The majority of people who actually use their AR for something else than aiming at paper, highly recommend Magpul sights. I have a MBUS and I like it a lot.

YHM front gas fold down sight and the G&GG rear mad sight is a great CQB set-up in my eye's.

With regards to folders, I like Michigan Industries sights. For solid sights I prefer the one made by DPMS that looks like the carry handle has been cut off it. It is solid and has elevation adjustments.

Well, considering the Magpul ones are cheaper, and will be just as accurate as the expensive ones, I'd say no.

IMO the nicest matched pair of flip up irons at the best price is the YHM's. They are just as nice if not nicer than the Troy and are considerably cheaper.

The Troy Diopter sights work best for my eyes. The rear aperture is so easy to pick up and use.

I have both the Troy and YHM sights. I like both for different reasons. The only thing that YHM may be affected by is that using the ghost ring as the primary, the small aperture height may affect the optical sight.

YHM is barely cheaper than the Troy and generally made very high value products. I'd put them against Troy any day, despite Troy's LCF.

Sights like KAC are great too as they offer windage and elevation but no dual aperture.

If you like to co-witness and your primary optic's mounting affords the space, a solid fixed set up is great too.

+1 for YHM. I love my QDS set. Excellent quality and value.
