AR Receiver Markings

Thanks for that info, but more specifically Diemaco stampings. Does anyone know any info on how the stamp their different uppers and barrels? I have recently seen an upper with both a Diemaco "D" and an Anchor Harvy "A". I would like to know where this upper might have came from.

I have the same upper on a Colt Law Enforcement rifle. Anchor Harvey made the forging, Diemaco finish machined it, and Colt sells the uppers on their rifles.

All diemaco uppers usually have a forge code on them. There have been about a 1/2 doz forges that they have bought their uppers from in the past...maybe more. A good source for them is the book The Black Rifle 2 by Blake Stevens. However, I have even seen some forge codes that are not mentioned in the book.

I have seen the following:

"3 stars" - Think this is Martin/Marietta - stand to be corrected as my memory has it's moments
"split A" Anchor Harvey
"K" Kaiser aluminum
"keyhole" cerro forge

I know I have seen others however I cant remember them right now.
