AR recoil reduction

I know this sounds odd, but due to recent concussion problems I want to reduce the recoil (if possible) on my AR. The original ruger birdcage was great, but then I had to tinker and I bought an S&J hardware comp. Now dont get me wrong here, this piece removed all the muzzle climb but in doing so seemed to send it all straight back into my cheek/shoulder, to the point where it made me dizzy. That is an issue my m-14 hasn't caused.

I guess my question is are there any breaks that would decrease the recoil felt better than the ugly duckbill?

thanks

Linear brakes don't really mitigate recoil due to the design but they are great at redirecting the pressures forward esp on SBRs.

I've used/owned a PWS Triad, PWS FSC556 and Griffin Armament M4SD II and the FSC556 is the best overall at mitigating recoil and muzzle rise. There are a lot of other great brakes out there as well.

I agreed... If that amount of recoil is causing you issues, you need to take a break from shooting.

Also, if you're that sensitive, the precussion from a good muzzle break could also cause you issues. Buy a .22 upper or conversion kit and have some cheap healthy fun!

Buy a dedicated 22LR upper and/or build yourself a heavy barrel target rifle with a rifle length has system and 18 inch barrel, add a nice brake and you'll barely feel a thing.

It does sound odd .... I dont think an AR can be considered as having recoil ... are you sure it is the recoil that is bothering you and not the muzzle blast?

I have hardly fired a rifle that was louder than an AR .... My AR originally came with a compensator of some sort and you could actually not shoot it as it felt like someone was hitting you in the head with a hammer (I shoot custom molded plugs and the best ear muffs you can get and it was not recoil, it was muzzle blast).

I am now shooting with an A2 birdcage and it is much better

Try a linear compensator, it will be even more comfortable to shoot.
