I have a Norinco 14.5" AR and the factory sling unopened which I've read is junk. I'd like to get a sling which would be suitable for 2 and 3 gun competitions. Can anyone recommend me some?
Thanks

I suppose when you do transitions you put your rifle on the ground, right?

Most non-tacticool 3 gun matches require you to abandon the firearm before going to the next
So, barrel, table top, whatever is provided.
the ground is typically not an option.

A few training courses recommended 1 point slings. Is there a benefit for a 1 point vs 2 point design?

If you're using a really short firearm (PDW) then a single point isn't to bad, and if you're willing to hold onto your firearm all the time, then a single point isn't to bad.

Ever wear a big necklace, a ID badge or similar around your neck? Notice how much it swings around if you bend over or move? Now think about a 14.5" AR swinging around.

The only thing a single point usually beats a 2 point sling on is conventional shoulder transitions. However this again is easily fixed by learning how to do a better shoulder transition. ;)

It is a shame that for 3-gun competitions that rules have to dumb things down for "safety".
IMO,
There is no reason to abondon your primary weapon even if it is out of ammo. If you can not effectivly control you rifle with sling choice and training and continue to shoot/fight with your pistol.....there is a problem.

I get its a sport, but truely ineffective training for those that fight for a living.

That said Blue Force sling (newest version) has improved vastly

'Been to a few matches were slings were manditory, but these were all held in the US where "big boy rules".... rule.

Slings get in the way and slow you down.. And really, unless you're truely skilled in their use slings can be a hazard...
