AR Rumour Mill

"Sorry, but while the folks at Shooterchoice are nice, they aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed". X2 - especially the pretty young blonde thing that is sometimes behind the counter.

I should take everything with a grain of salt because the site also contain a lot of propaganda.

What does she mean by propaganda? The various political views of board members or?

On the whole shooters choice thing, while sometimes the store service can leave a bit to be desired, Jackie and Mike have got to know me and take pretty good care of me. It's got to the point where Mike knows what I like and tries to bait me with milsurps if there's anything interesting on the shelf.
:D

Really, it is like anywhere. Know what you are looking for, and what it is worth. Know what you dont want. The rest is just filler. I find what I want, I buy it. If I dont know if it is priced fairly, I pass. Some shops have more filler than others! :D

If anything, ARs are getting scare because so many people are buying them. Sometimes when I'm at the range it's like almost everyone is shooting ARs.

Colts are really the only hard things to get in Canada because as was pointed out, Colt is precluded, by contract, from selling into the civilian market. Since they almost have a monopoly on LE and DND contracts, why care about the civilian market in a heavily gun-controlled country where sales will be limited to a small pool of black rifle enthusiasts? Pure economics. This also leaves the civilian market to other smaller players to try and make a go of it.

In that regard I've seen plenty of ARs for sale of all different kinds online and in stores. Its not like shopping for socks, but lets face it, if you're really into it, you're going to source out parts and custom dress it anyways. If you get yourself a decent milspec receiver you can build whatever you want from there. But buying exactly what you want off the shelf, unless its just a vanilla AR, you're going to be doing some research and parts ordering anyways.

I wonder what proportion black rifle enthusiasts/owners represent in the overall firearms community.

and very soon will be taking orders for DPMS (permits are all approved).

Finally... I really like DPMS but they themselves are incapable of getting permits approved. We keep placing large orders without any success...
