Hey all, could use some help.

I'm trying to remove the stock on my gun (regualar A2 fixed-style).

I took out the buffer and spring, now I'm trying to get the whole piece off. From what I saw on the net' I need to remove the top screw of the butt plate? (I'm guessing). I saw on another site them use a special tool for this. Do I need one or is it just on there really good?

Thanks for your help.

Yep, unthread the top stock screw, and the stock should slide off the buffer tube. They you'll need to remove the buffer tube. A strap wrench is good for no mar removal if it's tighter than hand tight.

Take the time to use the right stock wrench tool. There is nothing worse than looking at a cool AR, only to see the lock ring has been butchered by some moron who used vice grips, a crescent wrench or a hammer and punch on it.
The $$$ you spend on the proper AR tools won't be wasted...... it's almost gauranteed that AR ownership will lead to multiple AR's, followed by lots of mods and then a build-up from scratch.
