I have a su16F with the ar kit and there is no "pad" on the stock, it's bare square plastic against shoulder. I know 223 recoil isnt that bad but I am skinny and I would prefer some sort of pad. Do I need to get a new AR stock or is there some kind of pad that will fit on that "kind of ####ty" ar stock?

Dude, it's 223. Seriously you don't need a recoil pad.

Nice answer.

Kryogen, there are slip on rubber butt plates that are meant to make the butt "stick" better into your shoulder but not reduce the recoil. The C7A2 and new C8's are issued with them. You can get the exact same thing from Brownells and a few have popped up on the EE from time to time. If you want to do the work you could also buy a pad and install it to your stock after modifying it and the stock to fit.

Then again you could simply buy what was posted above my reply.

I guess this is what you're looking for

But seriously, you might want to hit the gym (or start doing push-up / chin-up) and put on some muscle mass... Not only will it help you deal with the 'recoil' of the AR, it will help your shooting.

best part is they increase the LOP

Just be careful when ordering a recoil pad as there are two sizes, a smaller one for the older two and four position collapsibles and a larger one for the newer 6 position collapsibles (like the one in the oic above). They are not interchangeable.

That limbsaver thing is exactly what I am looking for, thanks.

I'm 118 pounds wet and I need a recoil pad for 223, end of the story. There is no muscle or fat between the gun and my bone.
Get over it.

On a side note:

From the hot chick movie:

Jessica (Schneider): "I gotta hit the little girls' room before I soak my panties. Um... By that, I mean... my girlfriends panties... which I carry with me... to pee in... if I don't make it in time... to the bathroom. What? You don't pee in your girlfriend's panties? What kind of ### club is this? Hey, everybody, check out this guy... not peeing in his chick's panties."

For a .223 to be causing you discomfort while shooting you must be shouldering it incorrectly somehow. Before you shell out any money for anything I would look at your technique. Hate to say it but my wife read this thread and laughed.

Some People are just built a little different and are sensitive to recoil. I bruise very easy but that's no big deal I just put up with it. But a big problem for me is a bad neck( several discs, flattened spinal cord and shoulder injury) anything that helps reduce recoil helps with more shooting and less pain!

I'm too old now to try and worry about looking macho! I'm more into comfort now LOL. Yes I have a Colt 6920 and I have the slip on pad and although it was not designed for recoil it seems a little more comfortable to shoot, it probably spreads the recoil force out over a greater area and it has no sharp edges or points that can dig in.

the main problem is not the 223 recoil, is that's somehow that cheap ar stock that comes with the keltec has a sharp edge that hits me where it hurts. I just need a small pad to prevent that edge from hitting.
