Hi guys,

I have had this wrench for many years and never really used it except for replacing a barrel once. Now I wanted to replace the stock on my Bushmaster and realized it didn't fit the castle nut. The lugs on the wrench are too far apart. It almost looks like it is made for a bigger castle nut. I also compared it with 3 other different stock brands already installed and none of the castle nut will fit the wrench..??

Any of you guys had this issue in the past. Should I get a new wrench? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Your wrench doesn't have a provision for removing the castle nut. The three lugs are designed to fit into the barrel nut if you want to remove the barrel. Most new versions of barrel wrenches also have the capability to do castle nuts but yours isn't one of them. Since you already have the barrel nut wrench just buy a dedicated castle nut wrench. They can usually be had for $10-15. A word of caution. Yours is the new style castle nut with the 4 recesses cut in it. Make sure you get a wrench with 3 lugs. The old style castle nut wrenches only had a single lug to match the single recess (which was actually a hole) in the centre of the lock ring.
