AR Style flip-up/BUIS on SKS?

Like the title says...

I've seen a few attempts on a couple other forums, some better than others. I think the easily identifiable issues are the need for a cheek riser, and lack if reliable rails forward of the stock rear sight (not too keen on a quad rail).
Is this viable? Has anyone made this work?

...or should I just get an after market peep sight and call her a day...

Co-witness is pretty close. Reddot floats just above the front sight. The tube rail is about 1/2" lower. I keep my eye open for a small riser section but haven't found one at a LGS yet.

You just use the same piston, I didn't need to do much to mine but it's a tight fit. You file a bit at a time until it fits nice. Comes with instructions.

Edit: Make sure you like the way they line up before remove the front sight. It can be a pain to remove and put back if you don't like the flipup.

Thanks for elaborating. Have you had any issues with the front sight moving around on you? I've often read that railed handguards are a no-no because of the inherent play. I've got a crapco on mine but I shaved the rails off cuz they were pointless.
 
No shift we've noticed, but the SKS isn't known to be a tack driver.
The tube rail has two setscrews that hold it in place, one on each side, that stop movement. And as I said, mines on nice and tight.
Last time out I was able to do 2" 5 shot groups at 62m. I was sighting in the reddot rather than using the BUIS, but used them together later.

POA was the top percentage "o", it was hitting low.
 
BTW, this was only it's first trip with the new setup. (May 9th.) It's been out twice since then but my buddy used it while I was testing and sighting in my CZ 527. He didn't mention any issues with POA or POI since the last time I had it out so I assume it's okay. The above photo where I had the parts laid out was after I cleaned it due to corrosive ammo. It hasn't been fired since then but it wouldn't surprise me if POI has moved slightly as I can't put it back exactly the same way every time. An extra turn of the allen key on the rail might shift it a bit but I don't know how much, if any, change it makes until my next trip with it.

Regardless, they are truly back up iron sights for when the battery in the red dot dies. A shift 1/2" in either direction wouldn't bother me as this is a plinker. But I'll update the next time I take it out just so we know.
 
Haha! The contradictory statement on that sign made it a great target for shooting at. Anyways, thanks for the contribution, definitely gothe somewhere to start now.
