AR Style Shotgun - opinions and options ...

Not sure the insults justified, I have no issue with the guns, just find them clunky and hard to swing vs a conventional gun. I also think 1100s are over hyped jam-o'matics too.

Don't need to be much more specific. Once the old fat losers who complain about the old days have shuffled off this mortal coil, the rest of us can enjoy individual choice.

Buy whatever you choose, and make as much noise as you want, just respect the fact that there are multiple forums, and start threads in the appropriate forum. Those of us that choose to purchase shotguns that we can actually hit flying targets with, will do the same.

The ati omni .410 looks like something interesting. Any news on the sale of it in Canada??

I believe it’s an AR15 chambered in 410 right? So it’d be restricted...

I’m no fan of the anemic 410 anyway. A pistol caliber carbine in 10 mm would offer the same or better ballistics, in a non-restricted platform, with 10 round pistol mags.

A 410 ar seems like an answer without a question... in my humble opinion.

They are a novelty. I have a hard time warming up to detachable magazine fed pump and semi-auto shotguns as opposed to a tube fed. A tube fed can be topped up on the fly while you have to stop and reload a detachable magazine.
There are positive points to both sides of that coin. If we were allowed to defend ourselves and family, a shotgun would be my choice. Tube fed would need to be loaded once a threat is identified. It takes a while to load a 5-8 round tube. With a magfed, as long as it is stored sepetately can be full and ready to Slide in the gun and rack! I do find loading the mags themselves slower than the tube, but you just need to have a good supply of mags ready. It is that initial delay in loading the tube, that could be a bit tense!

Bought a Derya Mk 10 a couple of years ago because I could, it’s a fun gun to shoot. A great gun for defending yourself I carry it on my quarter section which is 75% bush

I bought a Derya Mk 12. It's fun as hell to shoot. For anything other than self protection or 'blowing sh&t up', then I would agree - it is a novelty.

One day I tried clays (trap) with it - not a chance. Back to my 1970's 870 for that.

There is one area where magazine fed shotguns likely have a distinct advantage. Assuming a shotgun would be the goto for defense purposes, both shotgun and loaded magazine(s) can legally be stored together in a safe. In a stressful low light situation it would be far quicker and easier to grab and pop in a magazine rather than loading individual shells into the tube.

Not just defense, as that’s a nice attribute when hunting too. Especially when you’ve got a lot of Bush lots to hit, and you’re in and out of the truck a dozen times a day. Easier to pop the mag in and out than pump all your shells out and into the mud or snow.
