There was a link or a thread quite a while ago in gunsmithing that had directions and pictures for lightening the trigger pull on an AR by shortening a couple spring legs in the trigger group.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

It's on ar15.com... 15 minute trigger job I think.

I used it on my Norinco AR, and it worked as advertised. The only issue is that one of the trigger pins has a tendancy to walk out once in a while...

Did the trigger job this afternoon. Did not lap the sear as in the instructions as I couldn't find my polishing compound. The most time consuming part was running to check web pics on which way the springs were supposed to go back in.

Very noticable improvement in trigger pull. Will have a range report Saturday.

I've done it on mine when I first put together the LPK and the stripped lower. I actually clipped the wrong side of the spring leg. but it still works. which reminds me, there's probably lots of grime in there now, I should take it out for a cleaning....

I am actually thinking of making a photo essay on how to do it, sometimes photographs work better than linedrawings.

That would have been handy. My wife hates all the grease and grime that ends up on the keyboard when I need to search on the web in the middle of a project.

No problems with light strikes nathan? Did you lap the sear too?

Roger that. Easy enough to swap new springs in if milsurp ball ever becomes available in quantity again.

Thanks for the heads up sparrow.

I never had any problems with light strikes post trigger job. I shot South African surplus exclusively, and never had a problem.

Not sure where the SA stuff stood on primer hardness, but the only issue I ever had was walking pins.

They can. At least on my Norinco they did.

There are two grooves that the springs usually fit into, preventing the pins from moving side to side. Post trigger job, only one groove has a spring on it,

Took the AR to the range to try out the trigger mod. Pull is greatly improved. I'd estimate it's half as heavy as before. It's still heavier than I'd like, but I can work with this.

No light strikes on the Federal XM193 (didn't expect any) and no walking pins.

15 minutes well spent, IMO.
