I've got an 11.5" Armalite M15 A4 and a Colt SP1, triggers on both rifles suck. I'd like to upgrade without spending huge $, something in the 4-5# range and very crisp. Single stage or 2 stage, I shoot them both equally as well so it's not important. I know you fellas will have some feedback for me.
Thanks in advance.

The RRA match trigger is an inexpensive way to get some improvement over stock ... but stock aint bad ;)

From RRA:
Lightens & Smoothes Trigger Pull For Improved Accuracy
Drop-in, match grade trigger provides a crisp, 4½ to 5 lb., 2-stage, trigger pull to improve accuracy for competition or varmint shooting. Sear engagement point is located behind the hammer to reduce pull weight. Low mass hammer speeds lock time. Includes trigger and hammer pins. Fits AR-15 receivers with .154" hammer and trigger pins.

You may want to search this topic its been beaten to death. There are better options but the RRA is definately one of the more cost effective kits out there...

Best trigger I've ever used (and since bought) in an AR is the Geisselle. That 2-stage is nothing short of incredible, but it's not cheap, and I'm not sure if you would want to go to that level for a carbine.
My AR carbine just has a stock single stage RRA trigger in it.

Geisselle is about the best I have tried, I have a KAC 2 stage in my SPR and an Armalite 2 stage in my AR10 SASS, and have plenty of rounds throgh the RRA 2 stage, the Geisselle is head and shoulders above everything I've shot.

I just put JP Enterprises 'Reduced Power' spring kit into my AR. It's made a big difference in the trigger weight. I don't know what it's at, but it's much lighter than the factory trigger.

They caution that the reduced power might cause failures to fire with some types of ammunition. I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but I'll definitely report back when I do.

Total cost: $9.95 USD + shipping from Brownells (page 160 Catalog #58)- ++ installation time.

Not a substitute for the match triggers (which are very nice) but worth trying out - IMO.

I just dropped a Timney in my AR, although the trigger is a 3#er I like it. Complete drop in, super simple installation and it works great. I took my 16 inch carbine with a 10X scope and was shooting 1/3 moa groups at 300 yd. Offhand with a 1.5-4.5, 4moa rapid at 100yd. I like this trigger.

I've tried the JP Enterprises 'Reduced Power' spring kit, but I had too many FTF due to light primer strike. The hammer must be cutoff when using that spring kit, to increase hammer speed, hence striking power.

So I ditched the JP spring kit and now, i'm using the Chip McCormick Single stage SuperMatch trigger... and I just love it ! About 3.5 lbs though.. very light pull, short travel, fast lockup, superb accuracy :)

Save up your $$$ and get a Geisselle.

Remember this - the frustration of buying a middle of the road part will live on much longer than the lower price is forgotten.

Sorry to thread jack but I am in the same boat ...

Can you stroke the trigger right back through both stages to rapid fire semi? (e.g. dump a mag) like a regular trigger?

Where does one get the Geissele trigger here in Canada?

We're down to one left in stock, a 'Match' version.

We apparently have our backorders in motion in the USA. Email if you want to be on the 'to call' list when they arrive.

Cheers.
