Hey all.

I will be shooting SR this season and want to attend NSCC. Trigger weight requirement is 5.5 lbs. My current trigger breaks at about 4.75 lbs.

Can I simply change out the springs to get the weight up to the 6.0 lbs range (a little cushion would set my mind at ease)?

Is it possible to simply buy springs to give a specified pull weight?

Do I have to look at a whole new trigger assembly?

you could try to rebend to add pressure but I would not do this without a spare set of springs

Really, you can tell what I meant, cause I can't :)

Hammer and TRIGGER spring (proof reading is important - Opps)

I tried the hammer spring alone and eventually bent it to the point that the trigger would not reset at all. Locked on re-cocking. Bent it back at bit so it works but did not get the weight I was looking for.

I am obviously not a gunsmith. Good thing I have an extra hammer spring.

Back to the drawing board.

What trigger are you using now?

Using the parts out of any standard lower parts kit will get you what you need.

I'd talk to Arms East or any other sponsor and see if they have the standard parts kicking around. Lots of guys have upgraded when buying a rifle and the dealer ends up with the parts a lot of the time.

Bending the springs is all you do with a Geissele trigger, the manual describes it:

I did it to the match trigger in my Stag Model 6 and it worked nicely. I bumped it up to ~6.5 lbs. It's all in the first stage, so you don't really notice it since the second stage still breaks the same as it did prior to the adjustment.

Thanks to a solid assist from a fellow nutter I now have an RRA trigger that breaks about 6 lbs. Has a little bit of creep but it is smooth. Considering that this is a big favor I am very satisfied and happy. Now I'll get to shoot with this trigger for the season and get used to so I can perform as well as possible with it.

This kind of stuff restores faith in CGN.
