ar type rifles....?

I know I will get flamed for this, but check out the Norinco / polytech m305. They are a m14 copy and non restricted. You can get one new for around 499 or find something cool on the EE. They can legally accept a 10 or 20 AIA magazine as the AIA is made for a bolt action.

Not a Black rifle, but the OP may be interested due to the price point and upgradability. The downside is scope mounts ARE expensive.

Sorry for the Main Battle Rifle refrence ;) :yingyang:

thanks for the info guys! i love loopholes :)
magazine...magazine...magazine.....hehe
beachead...i agree with you're line of thinking, i'll start by looking into taking a rpal course or whatever is needed to upgrade to rpal!

Not a loophole, just following the law as it is written. :)

If you have your non-restricted PAL, all you need to do is pass the test for the Restricted course. When I upgraded to an RPAL, I just challenged the test and I passed without issue (at that point I had already read the firearms act several times and had shot many pistols under supervision, so I had the practical portion down too). Unless you already have a fair amount of experience handling restricted firearms and are confident you can successfully challenge the test, I recommend taking the course.

the sks looking type rifles have never interested me much, however my son is a different story. he's been eyeing up an ol' sks for 200 at our local gun dealer for a while, an m14 may be something to look into for him.
as for the practical i've never had a pistol in my hand but i have a freind with a ton who could help me there. i challenged all other tests except the bow hunters course and had no trouble passing.
i assume i'd buy the book study and do some practical before a challenge.
and the details of expectations from the practical would be oputlined in there somewhere as well?

Can't remember if that's in the book or not.

Just make sure you can safely do your ACTS and PROVE on a single action revolver, double action revolver and a semi-auto pistol. Try to find out exactly which pistols you will need to handle during the test and prepare accordingly.

I have a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 AR-15 and it is the nicest gun I own. Always wanted an AR-15 and its definitely the one that gets the most attention when friends are looking at my hardware.

Another option. Nice, but pricey and non-restricted

Correction. It is the other way around. The conservative government will non-restricted all semi autos one day.

Dale, you'll definitely come to appreciate and even love the AR15/M16 family of rifles/carbines. For a 60 year old design, they are quite a machine to behold. Military designed so it's army-simple when it comes to disassembling/assembling. It's highly modular so there are many variations you can adopt and/or experiment with.

Essential this is the one rifle you can make your very own, very personal and very unique! You can follow some of the trendy streams or go off on your direction and make an AR that works for you exactly how you want it but is completely on it's own in comparison to others. Endless options, to say the least.

Like a USMC Major once stated in what became a corps. creed, "This is my rifle. There are many like it but this one is mine!"

X2. I don't care all AR's are restricted...for now...but, if you are a black gun lover, you will own one or more...eventually....trust me...I know.

Remember: Vote Conservative.
