AR upper with no brass deflector and lefties...

I shoot left handed and am in the process of building my first AR. If I get a upper with no brass deflector am I gonna spend a lot of time eating brass??

I'm building a heavy barrel varmint style, so not gonna be shooting a 200-300 rounds per range trip.

I shot lefty with an older style upper with no brass deflector for a couple years and never got hit with any brass.

Both my AR's with deflector eject between 3:00 and 4:00, I would guess that with no deflector that would move further back to the 4:00 to 5:00 so you might get hit more.
If you are building one why not buy a left side ejection upper and bolt? I think Rock River makes one and there may be a couple others.

We have Stag Arms LH Uppers and LH BCG in stock. Kinda eliminates the problem.

The one I had spit brass on my right cheek every time. Nasty.

Bummer. Was looking at the DPMS competition upper on Brownells. No deflector, dust cover or forward assist for $89.00. I'd probably have to get a add on deflector of some kind though to make it work.

Never had an issue with any upper without the case deflector,...though it feels better having the deflector there just in case...
