maybe someone tried this and can tell me....lets say a fellah had 2 uppers for his AR15, an iron sighted shortie, and a 20'' or so with a decent scope

if you sight in the scoped upper. than swap it for the shortie, then switch back. does it hold it zero?

im thinking yes, because the scope's line of sight is 'zeroed' to the barrel's line of bore at 'x' range. anyone know for sure?

Yes, why wouldn't it? All the critical parts, i.e. barrel, action, bolt and sights are together in the upper. The lower just contains the trigger assy. That's what makes the AR system so versatile. You can mix and match uppers without having to re-zero the system. Go from a 7" bbl'd pistol to a 24" bbl'd long range rifle just by swapping the uppers :dancingbanana:
