AR with a bullet stuck in the barrel...

OP,
From what you said, sounds like this guy lives near enough to you. ( You showed him the workings of the rifle)
Why don't you meet him at the range. You bring 20 rds of whatever factory ammo brand you want and shoot them thru the gun with him there? That way there will be no ifs, ands, or buts if the guy was trying to scam you.
No way you get an ejection with a squib. No way at all.

Well he just told me was shooting American eagle .223,which I've shot just fine from that gun and lots of MFS steel cased.....but mostly I've used norinco 5.56....he called NEA today and the first thing they told him is he should only use 5.56.

Hes about 4 hours away from me,if he wants to come to my range I'll let him shoot all kinds of ammo just to prove its not the gun.other then that,he's on his own

I think the guys has remorse because nothing making sense. How far down the barrel was the bullet? Pre or post gas port? If it was pre port then the guy jerking your leg and making excuses. Highly doubt that primer gases has enough pressure to launch the bullet down 4-5" gas past the gas port and to cycle the bolt back full. Shooting 556 isn't going to make a lick. I had plenty of 7.5" and shot 223 fine because all we had common back then was 223 ammo.

Just got word back,he indeed heard a pop both times, and the case did eject.squib.

Told him to bring the ammo to the store and ask for a refund then buy something else.

I still find it hard to believe that 2 factory loads would do that in a row.....in the last 10 years I've seen maybe 10 squibs myself....and everyone was reloads.i still think he was using reloads not factory ammo.

Odd. I have never heard of a squib being capable of cycling an action. The pistol length gas tube is 6.75'' long and the barrel is 7.5'' long. He hears a pop, the bullet has enough pressure behind it to push it past the gas port, then manages enough energy to cycle the action (which likely would chamber a new round btw if ejection is succcessful), and the bullet then halts between the muzzle and the gas port?

There is a word in English for that kind of odd, we call it suspicious.

Bullet has to travel less, Gas tube 6.75" long but Its in the receiver past the chamber at lease 2" Making the bullet only have to travel at lease 4" to get past the gas port. But still that I dont believe has enough pressure to cycle the bolt.

Tell him to send it to a reputable gunsmith for inspection including his ammo. If it is in fact a problem with the gun you should have the right to pay for repairs or except it back, Is he a local buyer that you can meet with?
