Nothing new there, the SP1 was offered with wooden furniture kits, it does look very nice,but not very practical.

Considering it is nothing more than a range gun to canadians I dont think the wood furniture is impracticlal. I think its awesome.

Guess it can't be called a "black" rifle now can it???

I like wood stocks but, just doesn't seem right on an AR. As far as practicality goes, who cares? I've seen many an AR with far less practical extras than a wood stock. If that's what you like... then do it. Just not for me.

Why would wood not be practical?

Wood has served well on both recreational and service rifles for a very long time.

So why is it not 'practical' now?

At SHOT this year, Rock River had several rifles decked out in wood furniture of different colours and styles. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics.
