So I have very recently purchased a NR AR10 style receiver set and will be starting on my first ever build. My question is towards barrels. I plan to use this rifle for hunting and shooting steel out to 500-800. I have a bolt gun to take me out to 1000+ in 6.5CM so I am building this to be a .308 fun well shooting rifle.
I am looking at 2 barrels. The Faxon big gunner 20” .308 that promises “near match grade” accuracy which I could get for $195 US and the criterion 20” match grade .308 for $289US. Is it worth spending the extra money for the true match grade barrel or will the Faxon work just dandy? As stated I don’t need a 1/2 moa precision rig as I have a bolt gun for that but hitting a good kill hit at 500 and ringing steel at 600-800 would tickle my fancy just fine. What do you all think?
