AR10 for hunting

Honest question: Does anyone actually use forward assist on there AR?
None of my "Tactical" Rifles (BCL 102, Tavor 21, RA XCR-L) have FA, and I cannot even think of an instance where I wish I had forward assist.

I think most guys want it just for looks. Keep it as close as possible to the AR 15 look.
Maybe the military guys want it for training purposes.

Ok then why?

I want one on my MS , just to have it.
I don’t know why else I would need it.

Never mind, I just read your reason.

I’ve never hunted with an AR10, but will probably just treat it like my bolt.
One in the chamber, with the safety on.

Anyway, no matter the reason, I want a FA.

I think the 308 15 inch Brigand and V7 with barrel nuts are 8.8oz but I agree timing the Brigand barrel nut is a pain. I have some of the mlok mounting things for the Brigand but can't add to 12 o clock due to the gas tube

YES, I DO. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, CAN WE PUT THIS TO REST ALREADY!

Why would I switch out my BCG for one with forward assist serrations?

All good and fine. If you are in your stand before legal time best not to have one in the chamber ;)

Are you sure they don't?
My ACR has FA, I can't really remember my Tavor (sold it a long time ago) but I thought you could use the charge handle as FA, Pretty sure my XCR-L has FA if you push in on the charging handle but not 100% sure since I just got it a while ago and haven't really messed around with it much.
I would say personally that it's not needed but if someone else wants or sees value in it then why not have it. There are certain situations where it is handy such as hunting to chamber quietly. personally though, I just chamber once I'm on foot and rely on the safety.

Is it needed? No.
Do some people like it? Yes.
It's just a matter of personal opinion so really no wrong answer.

Market should rename these 'in-battery confirmation device'.

Geissele would call it the 'super-in-battery confirmation device', and sell it for 200$... lol

I'd prefer to have one, just in case. Better to help that round in there and fire rather than having to recock, and lose it in the ground. I know a few people who'd pick up said round, do a cursory clean and reload it, just to have it not lock into battery (again), compounding the problem.

Forcing it in can also compound a person's problems.
