ok I'm the F.N.G here and looking for help. I've recently acquired an armalight ar10 in 308. i bought it in the u.s.a and brought it back to canada my self. i had to register it as a restricted firearm and i want to know why? i have found that stag has an ar style 308 that is not restricted, i want to know what the difference between them are. i got the rife in order to use it for hunting but because of the restricted part i can't now and I'm pissed off about it. also is there a way to get the restriction lifted in order to use it for hunting or is there modifications i can do to lift the restriction.

There is nothing you can do, it's restricted. It's a range toy.

The Stag-AR-10 is non-restricted because the upper and lower are constructed in such a way that they cannot be used with other AR-10 uppers and lowers. Because of that they're considered 'unique' and got a pass to be non-restricted.

Buy a stag 10 upper/lower and transfer your parts from the restricted Armalite... assuming a barrel length over 18.5" you should be okay for hunting

 Say what?

The OP knows enough to get an AR10 and imports it from the US so has a restricted licence. But didn't know it's restricted? Am I the only one wondering WTF is going on here? Reporter trying to milk info? I find this kind of hard to believe.

Dirp!

If you’d actually take the required course to obtain a restricted you’d know that... nevermind.
