ar10 upper on bcl102?

As strictly technical information cool, but to do this and get caught could have consequences. Im sure the rcmp lab has also tried this a hundred times and maybe even sacrificed perfectly functional guns to manufacture a full auto derivative and then try to justify a ban or order of some sort. Just enjoy your guns.

I'd hate to be the guy that slapped a restricted (length) upper (yes I know the upper is not the restricted part) on it and got the whole platforms frt reversed. I'm sure bcl would have made them incompatible. I'm just saying don't give them a reason, after all the crazy things they have restricted for no real reason at all I'd not mess with a good thing.

This would be no different from changing the barrel on any other platform. It wont change the base FRT, it will result in a new restricted child frt entry during the registration process. Same as how any other rifle with a restriced and non-restricted counterpart can coexist at the same time with out the whole platform becoming restricted.

This really shouldn't be this hard to understand.

One of the ways the Lab judges if a gun is an AR variant is to get an AR upper and the new gun's lower and try to make it go bang. If they can get this to happen, by any means not involving a milling machine, but including using wire or tape to attach the upper to the lower, it's branded an AR variant. It doesn't need to feed, or eject, it needs to go bang one time. This happened to one of ATR's early rifles. They wired an AR upper to the test lower and got it to fire once, they then said that since it discharged a round, the lower was an AR variant. Given that, I'd say the answer is that it won't work, because they'd have loved to restrict that firearm.

And there's the critical thought process at work.

That’s the point I was trying to make, if we go ahead and do some extra testing and actually make it work and get caught with one they will take it away from all of us. I know all about how the upper is non restricted blah blah blah, but this whole rifle is non restricted. If your sure it’s a great idea and wanna go for it, please don’t post about it, get caught with it etc. And for the record the platform is restricted, the upper is considered a part of that platform, yeah it’s not serialized, yeah you can own without a restricted license but if you take a 2x4 and make a restricted upper, part or not, of any kind fit on it and fire you now have a prohibited weapon, if you don’t believe me ask the CFO, or anyone versed in the law regarding this matter. Surely this can’t be that hard to understand.

I have no issues with your post except that
1 anytime you ask the cfo anything, even about the weather, the answer is no
2 they are not well versed in the law, chances are you know the law more than them

This.

They dont have your best interests in mind when answering your questions, and could care less if they incorrectly answer one there by falsely limiting tour freedom should you follow their directions/advice.

The 102 is an AR, just like the Valmet M78 is an AK, and just like the Valmet, it is not subject to to OIC bans as they are exempted, the Valmet by name and the 102 by predateing the named restricted AR15.

So to clear things up, the 102 is absolutely an AR, but it slips through the cracks in our terrible laws like most awesomeness does. As such what upper fits is irrelevent as long as the lower remains unmodified. And if you do put a sub 18.5" barrel on, follow the firearms act and treat as a restricted and have it registered in 30 days or less.
