I do hope we can get some East-West travel in place for the coming summer's 3gun season. Would be great to get a look at what the different regions of Canada are doing with 3gun gear, especially ARs, shotguns, and stage designs. As far as I know the big ones in the West 2017 are going to be the Lone Butte Redneck and Saskatoon Prairie Fire. What are the big ones in the East?

We don't really have adequate ranges or adequate CFOs to do much in Ontario.
New Brunswick and NS do, but not sure if they have ever put on something the size of the matches you mentioned.
If flights were cheaper, I would have already been all over the Redneck match.
The Prarie Fire match, I may have to figure out a way to get to that one just because of the range alone.
That range is something else.
The PF match is on my radar as well...
'Wanna head out west anyway and I just happen to be off werk pretty much the entire month of June.
A pit stop in Sask. would be great....Greater still if a Saskatchewanian could hook a brutha up with a day or two of post match gopher shooting...

Everyone says those days are in the past, due to some combination of plague, too much rain, or too little rain. But there's a decent chance those in the know have taken a Fight Club approach and I haven't managed to crack the gate.

On topic, I took the brake off my AR. I had heard it gets very dirty up at the crown of the barrel area and normal cleaning isn't effective. I found the crown was quite clean. However there was a formidable bulkhead of carbon in the comb's threaded area with a hexagon-shaped hole through the middle about .223 in diameter. Still unsure if it would be best practice to do this kind of clean operation every couple hundred rounds or if it's a waste of time.

Not disputing what you or anyone else is doing or is capable of doing. My point is that unless you are getting the absolute maximum you can out of the current setup then you shouldn't be worried about changing it. To that point I add this statement- If you are asking about the gains of specific aftermarket parts then you are NOT at a level where it will matter. If you KNOW you can get more out of your performance if you change X Y or Z, then you KNOW you can improve your performance and wouldn't be asking here. More rounds down range with a reliable rifle with a reliable optic will yield far more benefits than buying a mechanical crutch..

I get what you are trying to say...and like I said I am not looking for a substitute for more training (I am putting 120 rounds through my AR every week for the next 3 months for starters). However, more rounds down range with my current rifle setup is not going to magically let me KNOW the effects that an adjustable gas block would have on the gun or my performance without ever trying it. Right?

And Kidd X, saying what you did means you're not yet at a level where you KNOW all of those aftermarket parts don't improve your performance at all. You'd be much better off improving your cardio and working on your fundamentals rather than doling out sanctimonious advice

The vast majority of aftermarket items are gimmicky garbage. You are absolutely correct in that most retailers would be out of business if the shooting community wasn't so gullible or desired to chase the next "great accessory". Working on fundamentals and cardio benefits you as a whole and not just with one specific firearm. Sadly it isn't as cool or as easy to see "results" from your fundamentals and cardio as it is to bolt on something new. I've gone full circle several times with AR15 setups and have come to realize that most of what you do to it is strictly dressing. The sponsored professional shooters without a doubt can school the vast majority of us with a bone stock non free float iron sight AR. Much the same way a formula 1 driver can outdrive us all in a station wagon. The shooter is the most important part in the marksmanship equation not the gear..

Anyone know where to get the Lancer Adaptive Magwell in Canada?
lol all this technical talk and fancy gear.... and here I plan to use an old fixed carry handle Colt A2 HBAR this summer... with a really good comp installed. Even it will seem like a pulse rifle in comparison to my previous 3 gun rifles, an SKS, and MR1.
Anybody have any recommendations on a comp for a 20" barreled AR 15 ? BESIDES THE M72 and JP recoil eliminator ?? hows the Alberta Tactical brakes on long barreled AR's ?

Get a good break (I've got an SJC), other than that biggest difference I could feel was a JP low mass bolt and captured recoil system.
The Miculek break works awesome, price is awesome and Brownells will ship it to Canada.
Personally I don't like the ATRS break, all ports face up and actually makes the riffle dip down. It's designed for FA according to Rick and probably works well at keeping it from running off but for 3Gun its not great.
