Hey guys anyone know of a way to convert my M&P 15 to 9mm? maybe buy a 9mm upper for my lower?

The range i like, DVC is indoors and only pistol caliber. I can fire .223 at other ranges but DVC is close and indoors, considering it rains here 9 months of the year, i wouldn't mind staying there a while.. Don't want my AR to just sit in the safe year after year though..

any help would be much appreciated.
 
There are a couple of changes needed to make a 9mm AR, as far as I know Questar sell the necessary parts (you'll also need a mag block, buffer, BCG and hammer - I may be overboard on some of that, but there are definitely lower parts that need to change)
 
You need a 9mm upper with dedicated BCG, Mag well adaptor, 9mm hammer and 9mm buffer.

They are great. Cheep CQB practice with more recoil management than .22lr. Plus you can use lower grade steel targets without blowing holes in them.

It takes about 5 min to do the change over, but I use mine so much I now have an extra lower that I leave setup for 9mm

Gas can, can you tell me where you got the parts and what it set you back? I reload 9mm, have thousands of rounds so that would be nice too. Oh and what is a BCG?
 
I got everything from Questar(all Rock River Arms). BCG= Bolt carrier group...well its more like a bolt in the case of 9mm

Im guessing but I think it will run you about 1,200 to 1,300

You can get the same result for less money by getting yourself a JR Carbine or Theorun Defense carbine; AR style platform and ~ $300 cheaper than the conversion plus you get to keep your AR platform in .223 without having to swap parts etc.

Just a thought....

You will need a complete upper more or less, your looking at $1000 all in. However you will also need the mag block and hammer.

The JR Carbine is a great option, but if your goal is to practice with the AR platform, then some of the ergonomics are a little different.

The mag release, and charge handle are in different positions(the JR charge handle is in arguably in a better position, but none the less), and I don't think the JR has a bolt catch.

For me, I like the idea that every thing is the same, only a difference in magazine dimentions. So the muscle memory that I am building with my 9mm drills should transfer to the .223....I hope.

Plus the JR carbine wasn't available when I got my 9mm upper:)

buy everything from the states. or convert your AR to rimfire. If an offer is good enough, i may have a complete Spikes 9mm for sale.
