I have an opportunity to get a Bushmaster or a Stag (can't afford both).

Is there any reason to prefer one over the other? They both have chrome lined barrels, I know CMT supplies parts to Colt, RRA, etc, and should be functionally equivalent to Bushmaster.

But there are there more subtle reasons to prefer one? Machining/tool marks? Quality of anodizing?

The Stag has a magnafluxed bolt, I'm not sure about the Bushmaster.

What about fit & finish between these two? Anyone offer some opinions to help distinguish between the two?

Thanks.

you will likely be happy with either one. they are both great rifles. I would go for the one that has what you want on it for the cheapest price.

I have done some research on this. I think it is like comparing pepsi or coke.

They are both excellent quality.

what is the Bushmaster? Is it an A3 Flat-top...shorty carbine (M4) or is it full sized. How much is it going for?

I've owned my Bushy M4 for 3 years now, and it ROCKS. Dont buy the cheaper one...buy the better one...QUALITY is #1

good luck

I think the finishing is better on the Stag than on my bushy lower. On the rear of my bushy receiver on the "backstrap" just above the grip there's two lines(protrusions) of forging marks, onthe Stagg it's baby smooth:) That's just one if you want to get picky there's others but minor.....

Plus you save big money on the Stag, compared though you get more options/configurations with Bush but if I could do it over again I'd love to have a Stag lower and save the$125
