AR15 Carry handle removal.

I'd try to sell it before chopping it, as someone may want the classic look.

That being said, I did see a Norc CQ311 that was redone with a 1913 rail for Lever Arms. I'm not sure if that stressed the receiver in some weird way but it looked pretty good. You could send it to a reputable smith to see what they could do.

Or you could bubba it and bolt on your own. You would get way less for it if you tried to sell it with a bubba rail on it though. :D

Early flattops were created by removing the handle and screwing a length of rail (in lots of cases a weaver) in it's place. Problem is to make it straight and plumb. A good gunsmith can do it, but for the cost of a stripped upper it isn't practical nor cost effective.

I'd looked up stripped Armalite flat uppers from Wolverine before... around 200 I think... prolly the better solution for all the reasons you guys said. I'm just kicking the idea around.(boredom more than anything :))

You can get the Aero Precision stripped uppers for $115 from Arms East. At that sort of price, you could probably sell the upper you have and get enough to pay for the Aero upper.

Maybe in Wisconsin you get them for $59 but here in Canada all firearms things are inflated in price due to export/import permits etc.

Well that is true but it is still most likely cheaper to buy a stripped flat top upper than to cut and fit a carry handle upper with a rail, I know, I used to make them.

AR's have to be the most modular rifles on the planet. If you don't like something, just buy the replacement part, ie: stripped upper. Don't butcher the gun.
