I'm currently on the hunt for a quality (mil spec or better) charging handle for my 5.56 rifle that has some form of extension on the side opposite the forward assist. I've found one or two that may fit the bill, but does anybody know of anywhere that may have something like this currently in stock? They don't seem to be as plentiful as I had hoped!

Thanks.

Just the latch or charging handle?
Charging handle the best of the best is the raptor check out one shot or saskatoon gun works next best is the bcm yet again gun worls has your covered if you just want a latch check out the badger ordnance tac latch from wolverine there are lots of options for just latches and their alot cheaper then a whole new charging handle.

Did you want quality, or milspec - in this case, it's either/or

Haha ok, I didn't realize they were necessarily exclusive of one another. So "at least mil spec" is what I guess I mean.

And thanks Skoal, I appreciate that. If I don't have to replace the whole handle I won't, as long as I can get some form of extension for it that makes it easier to charge with the rifle held up in front of me.

+1 for Badger Ordnance Tac Latch

Mine has been used since 2007 and is still in use in 2015. Gets the job done, simple and efficient. All my charging handle have it (work and personnal rifles)

I would classify them both as junk.
If you will be racking the charging handle from the left side you will put a lot of stress on the charging handle which will flex possibly scratching the finish on the top of the lower where the receiver extension screws in.
I have also had one of the roll pins shear on me rendering the rifle useless since the charging handle will no longer lock in place
I prefer the BCM Gunfighter with the large latch.

I specifically asked if he was looking for a new handle or just the latch and the he specified the latch, if you read my first post both the raptor and bcm were my recommendation for a new handle.

I did read your post, I was adding my observations based on my personal experience.
Nobody has brought up the possibility of the roll pin shearing and if it happens at an inopportune time such as during a shooting clinic it can be frustrating.
