Hi I am thinking of going the route of a dedicated .22lr upper for a range rig and wonder if there are AR15 conversion kit brands to look for? Or look out for?

I like the idea of 100% dedicated 22lr upper like the one's from Spike's. Thoughts on them is appreciated. Does anyone import Spikes .22 uppers?

Also like some feedback on what accuracy to expect in a .22lr upper?
Will they cycle target ammo reliably? Lapua, Etc?

I got mine in the mail yesterday...the quality is pretty good for what you're paying for. The receiver is all plastic though. Also, my take down and pivot pins took a lot of force to go in, but that will probably fix itself with repeated use.

I tried out my Chiappa .22 kit a couple of weekends ago. I actually installed the "Kit" consisting of the barrel and bolt unit into an old A1 upper I had hanging about. Worked beautifully! No malfunctions of any kind, very decent accuracy. I have re-installed the kit back onto the plastic upper now and was hoping to try that out tonight, most likely will be tomorrow night now.

My only complaint is that the magazines, 27 or 28 round, are too physicaly long. They are actually longer than a 30 round mag body and make it almost impossible to shoot prone. I will most likely be cutting the mags in half to shorten them to the length of a 20 round body for more proper training.

Otherwise, the kit is great, works well and I would recomend it!!

I considered getting a "complete" .22lr upper for my AR. Found they were kinda costly especially if another set of optics had to be purchased. I know I could swap my existing optics but re-zeroing would be a pain.
My solution was a CMMG stainless .22lr convervison kit and BDM 25rnd mags. Spent about $300.
Very happy with the set-up...just my 2 cents.

don't worry the banhammer is already in the works to restrict them to ten rds!!!!

m39a2 I would love to see some pictures of your Chiappa kit in the milspec upper. I would love to put together a .22 upper but am not keen on the polymer receiver. I am currently looking into the Tactical Solutions upper but this could be a lot cheaper if you could verify that the chiappa components are compatible with a milspec upper receiver.
