I just finished getting my scope and mount together on my AR and find myself wondering if I would be better off with an EOTech or Aimpoint, or something else.

I originally wanted to get a scope for the possibility of service rifle, but I think I will probably just be doing CQB stuff.

Do you guys have any recommends on EoTech or Aimport. Elcan and Trij are way out of my price range.

Thanks,

what about vortex? its like a Aimpoint, has a great reputation and warranty and cost no where near the price.... thats what im thinking of getting... also come with a 2x magnifier

x2 for Aimpoint. They are very durable and the battery life on the M3, for example, is 50000 hours. Eotech battery life is much less and it's a lot less durable. You can pitch an Aimpoint across a parking lot and it will be ok when you remount it. If you did that with an Eotech it will come apart.

The Micro is good but it uses a proprietary mount and the adjustment caps aren't retained. I opted for an M3. Uses any 30mm ring to mount, the caps are retained and it's cheaper. I have owned the micro T1, Comp M4, Comp M2 and Comp M3. Of all the other brands I've owned (few 552s and 553 Eotechs, Acog TA31F and RCO as well as the S&B Short Dot) and I'm back to square one with the Comp M3.

I would stay away from the Elcan. Any optic that uses it's mount for elevation and windage adjustments is a recipe for failure. The DR is also held by ARMS leavers which are garbage.

Any issues with losing POA/POI with either of these sights, I've read different things, but nothing real in depth yet.

No only the cheap knock off scopes have parallax issues, the Aimpoints are parallax free. I gave away my EOTech free to a member here and will never buy another ,for a Carbine optic you can't beat the Aimpoint Series.
I have a CompM2,CompM4 and a T1 Micro.no issues at all with any.

Aimpoint Micro T1 is what I like. The battery life is incredible. Just leave it on for years.

Don't the H1 and R1s have Weaver bases?

I have an EO 512 and a M3 comp. Both are excellent. If you can, check 'em at a store or at the range. In the end it's gonna be a matter of personal taste.

Do consider that if you go Aimpoint, most models require a separate mount, so it'll you cost a bit more.

I used to have an Eotech. Don't waste your money on one.

I now have an ML3, an M4S, and a T1 Aimpoint. Yes, Aimpoints ARE that good.

Tanks for the Eotech Reaper!, I like them and I find them faster(for me) but if I had the funds Mirco!!!!

You'll most likely never use the original base if you are putting it on a AR-15 as it would sit so low. I 'm using the Aimpoint Micro H-1 with the American Defense Modular AD-B2 Base and the American Defense Modular T1 CO Spacer (Absolute co-witness) on my AR and I'm loving it so far.
