I had a crazy thought.
With everyone going BANANAS over SBR; who went the opposite direction and got a DMR or has built one?
I haven't. but I want to.
Give me pics so I can start planning to spend my moneyXD

*Edit*
This can ALSO include AR 180-b
Or Swiss Arms.

I haven't yet, still saving, but I am planning to with Swiss Arms. Only reason I am planning to choose that over the AR-15 is that it's non restricted. If you don't care about non restricted AR is probably a better choice because you can do so many different things with it and parts are easy to find and a lot cheaper. I have hurt my brain trying to read Swiss German lately... It is also worth considering a DMR based on M14/M1A as that is what many of the US military DMR's are made from.

Downside of doing it with the Swiss Arms is the optics that the real Swiss DMR's use are pretty much impossible to find, and if you do find them, cost $6000 just because they are rare (the Kern scopes). You could stick an ACOG on and get kind of the same thing, but it would not replicate exactly what they do. I decided that is not a big deal for me, not sure what your interest is--in authenticity, or just making your own DMR?

If you go with AR-15 or M15 you should be able to replicate something pretty close to the "real" DMR designs.

Contains all kinds of goodies from KAC, Giessele, Magpul, Noveske, Spikes, Troy, ATRS, BCM, Stag etc.
Using a Bushnell 2.5 - 16 x 42 Tactical on top mounted in a ADM mount.

A little front heavy, this Rifle needs a Magpul UBR.

If you're ok with a restricted firearm, an AR-15 like a 20" Colt HBAR would be the best bang for your buck. The 20" Stag Model 4 would also be a great starting platform. Throw an ACOG or ELCAN on to the top and you're ready to go. You could also go the Swiss Arms route. It'll shoot a solid MOA with the right ammo, and is non-restricted. The biggest down side to the Swiss is the lack of ability to free float the barrel, and the weight of the rifle.
