I think Skullboy pretty much nailed it, "handguards" to me means A. B & C are rails/rail systems or free float tubes.

They are all called "Forearms", Ie Railed Forearm, Free Float Forearm, Tubed Forearm or just Forearm.

Hate to be the agreeable type but what SB said.. A handguard is plastic no place to add things.. a Freefloat is a freefloat.. and a Rail is a RIS or RAS and usually 4 of them...
