anyone got any tips on taking out the pins from the front sight post on an ar15? mine pins e are really putting up a fight! i dont need to keep the pins because im putting on a low profile gas block. can i just drill the pins out or is that a bad idea?

Is it a Nork? Sometimes it's just best to cut down the standard "triangle" front sight and leave the gas block part on the barrel.

Are you pushing the pins out the right way? The pins are tapered.
They can be a bugger.

yeah it is but igotta get it off anyway. im putting a 12" freefloat handguard on, so i have to get the gas tube off and the delta ring.

This is most likely your culprit.

If possible use an arbor press instead of old punch and hammer method. This way your not beating like mad or miss and damage your finish with the punch.

Press them out with a vise to get them started. I tape a nut with a large enough hole for the pin to go through over large side and then put into vise to push out. Much easier than hammering.

Use a rotary tool and cut the front sight assembly off. Cut it almost through, clamp the front sight post in a vise and a gentle twist will break it off.
