So I have almost completed my AR15 in .22lr. the only problem is I cannot find the last piece to make it a complete replacement for .223. I currently cannot find the CMMG spring and follower kit available to Canadians anywhere. the gun still functions but I want to bolt to stay open on the last round just like the .223 version. all I need to do is find some place that offers the part to Canadians. If anyone know that would be helpful but I will also keep posting here with my finding. I am a big fan of shooting a 22 ar because I make just over minimum so any chance i can get so save money i willl gladly take.

here are a few places in the states that sells them:

My Black Dog Machine AR-22 mags came with those followers. What mags are you using that don't have them?

I got mine from Questar: https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopexd.asp?id=67&bc=no

Be aware that the bolt hold open only works while the mag is in place, as soon as you pull the mag for a change the bolt closes. It is a nice indicator that it is time to reload, though. I got the smoke translucent ones, they allow you to see how many rounds are left.

those work the same as mine. I am looking at getting a new follower so that it hits the bolt catch and locks the bolt back.this way when I drop the mag the bolt stays back so when i insert the new mag i can just hit the bolt catch. it will work the same as the 223 rifle.

Ok, my mistake. Your setup works differently than my CMMG conversion, my bolt lock only holds the rimfire kit bolt open about 3/8", so a new follower would be of no benefit to me.

In order to have it hold open fully you need to purchase a CMMG BHOA. that will allow the bolt to stay fully to the rear. however it only works with the bolt catch until you get the new followers that allow the bolt to hold open on the last round.
